Análisis de la calidad del agua superficial del río Sabinal, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, México

Abstract

El río Sabinal es el principal cuerpo de agua que atraviesa en dirección poniente a oriente de la ciudad de Tuxtla Gu- tiérrez, capital del estado de Chiapas. Debido al acelerado crecimiento de la población y a través de los años, este río se ha contaminado paulatinamente y actualmente está cons- tituido por aguas residuales provenientes de uso doméstico, municipal, industrial, de servicios, agrícolas, así como la mezcla de ellas. Para el estudio del río Sabinal se ubicaron cinco puntos de muestreo iniciando en las pozas de Berriozábal hasta la desembocadura al río Grijalva. En general, el agua super- ficial del río Sabinal se encuentra altamente contaminada en la zona media y final de éste. Se registraron altas con- centraciones de DBO5, DQO, nitrógeno amoniacal, sólidos suspendidos y sedimentables, así como de los coliformes totales y fecales, estos parámetros se encuentran fuera de los límites máximos permisibles de la NOM-001-ECOL-1996 y NOM-127-SSA1-1994.

The Sabinal river is the main body of water flowing through heading west to east the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas state capital. Due to rapid population growth and over the years, this river has been polluted slowly and is currently made up of wastewater from domestic, municipal, industrial, services, agriculture, and the mixture of them. For this study, in the Sabinal River is located five sam- pling points, starting in pools of Berriozábal to the mouth river Grijalva. In general, the Sabinal river surface water is highly contaminated in the middle and end of river. There were high concentrations of DBO5, DQO, ammonia nitro- gen, suspended solids and sediments, as well as total and fecal coliforms, these parameters are outside the maximum permissible limits of NOM-001-ECOL-1996 and NOM- 127 - SSA1-1994.
