Percepciones del cuerpo femenino. La imagen a través del muralismo

Abstract

La imagen hegemónica idealizada de las corporalidades femeninas construida e impuesta a lo largo de la historia por el sistema patriarcal, esta tan interiorizado en nosotras hasta el día de hoy que no percibimos el daño que nos hace, nos hacen sentir culpa y vergüenza por habitar nuestro cuerpo, metiéndonos la idea de que si nos esforzáramos realmente conseguiríamos vernos igual de guapas que cierta modelo con cuerpo delgado, con su rutina y dedicación perfecta, cuando existen muchas condiciones sociales y culturales que señalan el privilegio de estas figuras. Los estereotipos respecto a la imagen que nos atraviesan, creando rechazo hacia nosotras mismas, nos vuelven las mejores consumidoras del área de cosméticos, productos de belleza, de moda, además de vender los estilos de vida que acompañan esta imagen. Ponen toda nuestra atención en la preocupación por encajar es este ideal que nos quitan el enfoque de posicionarnos en espacios de participación social que nos dan poder. Es necesario cuestionar, reflexionar y accionar ante estas inquietudes que permean y afectan nuestro sentir ante cómo nos vemos, y aceptar las diversas formas que existen en las corporalidades, es un hecho que nuestra imagen no condiciona nuestro valor. Poner al arte como un medio de resistencia y expresión ante este tema me parece muy acertado, pues cuestiona y crea nuevas imágenes y visiones sin límites de espacio, material e imaginación. Reconocer la importancia del peso de las imágenes y representaciones que nos rodean nos guían a la compresión de los conflictos culturales y sociales que responden a los estigmas de las perspectivas femeninas. Se plantea realizar una serie de obras pictóricas de caballete explorando las formas y texturas del cuerpo desde la autorreferencialidad y así reflexionar ante la autopercepción del cuerpo, construido de los aprendizajes del entorno y la educación, esto a través de la pintura al óleo sobre distintas medidas de soportes blandos y rígidos. Llevando un proceso que de paso a la exploración desde las ideas y experiencias compartidas, el trabajo en colectividad invita a la acción saliendo de nuestra individualidad para adaptar la empatía. De esta manera, el concepto de la obra de caballete se vuelve, una charla y la propuesta de la realización de un mural, donde quedan plasmados la diversidad de perspectivas femeninas en cuanto a las vivencias cotidianas llenas de tabú y heridas, transformándose en nuevos significados del sentir y la forma. Junto con mis compañeras, mujeres que hemos sido somentidas a imposiciones respecto a nuestra corporalidad y sus procesos, desde la colectividad creemos en la capacidad del arte para mostrar estos conflictos e invitar a la reflexión y participación para cambiarlo. The hegemonic, idealized image of female bodies, constructed and imposed throughout history by the patriarchal system, is so internalized within us to this day that we don't perceive the harm it does. It makes us feel guilt and shame for inhabiting our bodies, instilling in us the idea that if we really tried hard, we could look as beautiful as a certain model with a slim body, with her perfect routine and dedication, when many social and cultural conditions highlight the privilege of these figures.

The stereotypes regarding our image that permeate us, creating self-rejection, turn us into the best consumers of cosmetics, beauty products, and fashion, in addition to selling the lifestyles that accompany this image. They focus all our attention on the concern of fitting into this ideal, diverting our focus from positioning ourselves in spaces of social participation that empower us. It is necessary to question, reflect upon, and take action in the face of these concerns that permeate and affect our feelings about how we see ourselves, and to accept the diverse forms that exist in bodies; it is a fact that our image does not determine our worth.

Placing art as a means of resistance and expression on this issue seems very appropriate to me, as it questions and creates new images and visions without limits of space, material, and imagination. Recognizing the importance of the weight of the images and representations that surround us guides us to the understanding of the cultural and social conflicts that respond to the stigmas of female perspectives.

The proposal is to create a series of easel paintings exploring the forms and textures of the body from a self-referential perspective, and thus reflect on the self-perception of the body, constructed from environmental learning and education, through oil painting on various sizes of soft and rigid supports. Following a process that allows for exploration through shared ideas and experiences, working collectively invites action, moving beyond our individuality to cultivate empathy. In this way, the concept of the easel painting becomes a conversation and the proposal to create a mural, where the diversity of female perspectives regarding everyday experiences full of taboos and wounds are captured, transforming into new meanings of feeling and form. Together with my colleagues, women who have been subjected to impositions regarding our bodies and their processes, we collectively believe in the capacity of art to show these conflicts and invite reflection and participation to change them.
